Trying to change your negative thoughts?

"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives."

~  Henry David Thoreau

What I like about this quote is that it states it may take time to change your circumstances by changing your thoughts.  So if you are trying to change some negativity in your life by changing your thoughts to positive ones, it may take a while; do not be hard on yourself.  Just keep trying.  ~Brenda

Hold on Tight to Your Dreams

Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumblebee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential and fight for your dreams."

~  Ashley Smith

A song has been going through my mind for the past two days.  It's "Hold on Tight (to Your Dreams)" by ELO.  It goes perfectly with the quote above.  I have included the words to the song below.  It's tough sometimes to keep holding on to a dream when you also have to endure obstacles and blocks.  But perserverance, patience,  and persistance pay off.  Try not to give up on your dreams, even though you meet obstacle after obstacle and it looks hopeless.  Since we are a "fast food" nation, we believe everything should come quickly and effortlessly.  This is not the case.  Hold on to your dreams, and do everything necessary to make them come true. ~Brenda

Hold On Tight by ELO

Hold on tight to your dream
Hold on tight to your dream
When you see your ship go sailing
When you feel your heart is breaking
Hold tight to your dream.

It's a long time to be gone
Time just rolls on and on
When you need a shoulder to cry on
When you get so sick of trying
Just hold tight to your dream

CHORUS:
When you get so down that you can't get up
And you want so much but you're all out of luck
When you're so downhearted and misunderstood
Just over & over & over you could

REPEAT CHORUS:

Hold on tight to your dream
Hold on tight to your dream
When you see the shadows falling
When you hear that cold wind calling
Hold on tight to your dream.

Oh, yeah
Hold on tight to your dream
Yeah, hold on tight...
To your dream.

You CAN make it happen

"Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen."

~  Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is a very powerful quote; it lets you know that you are part of the process of creating your life.  Have you been procrastinating on making a decision?  Decide what you want, start taking the preliminary steps in that direction, and ask for guidance and help.  Keep firm in your decision; try not to waiver, even if things are difficult at first.  Good luck.  Brenda

Appearances can be deceiving

We are confronted with the deception of appearances on a daily basis.  Recently, we have had examples in the media,  which include the alleged suicide attempt of a Hollywood cutie who appears to have it all (fame, money, looks and friends) and the arrest of a prim-and-proper Republican senator in a men's bathroom bust.   Both were surprising incidents based on the outward appearance of their individual lives.

Often, we are prone to look at the lives of others as if the other person has it made and we are the only one having difficulties or suffering.  As you can see by the previous examples I have given, this is not the case at all.  Everyone on this planet, at some point,  experiences grief, loss and emptiness during their journey.  This whole experience is about self reflection, introspection and getting in touch with one's emotions, life's direction and spiritual fulfillment.

Do not feel alone on the journey.  You are not alone.  ~Brenda

My path to the tarot

I have been using several tarot decks to perform predictions and other divination for myself and others over the past twelve years.  I am always amazed how accurate the cards are in conjunction with my intuition.

I started reading not on the Rider Waite deck, as most novices do, but I learned to read on the Crowley large deck using the book "The Tarot Handbook" by Angeles Arriens as my guide.  "The Tarot Handbook" is an awesome guide to some basic features about the tarot and its interweaving with numerology.  I also employed a number of teachers along the way who taught me some more arcane meanings of the cards.

I picked up my first tarot deck two weeks after my father died.  I was 32 at the time.  I was guided to begin reading at this time, and to leave the path I had previously been on in my life.  At the point I picked up my first deck, I had only had two tarot readings in my entire life, and both of those were done by a co-worker for fun.

The deck I primarily use for my readings is the Cosmic tarot deck by Norbert Losche.  There are a number of reasons why this deck resonates with me.  First , I love movies of the 1930s and 1940s, and this deck features the images of some of the actors and actresses of that era.  For example, the King of Cups has a resemblance to Clark Gable, the 9 of Pentacles features Rita Hayworth and the 2 of cups appears to be Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall locked in an embrace.  Second, the deck is populated with people, and this allows me to get in quickly into the energies of different people in question.  Finally, the deck literally speaks to me, and was picked for me in 1996 by a woman who owned a bookstore called Triple Moon Goddess in Okemos, Michigan.

Because of the tarot, so many things have opened up for me in my life.  My life is incredibly different than it had been before, and much richer and fuller.
